Nature Investment Lab (NIL) is a collaborative platform dedicated to attracting and scaling investment in Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in Brazil. By bringing together the private sector, financial institutions, government, and civil society around a shared sustainable development agenda, NIL fosters strategic collaboration to accelerate climate and nature-positive outcomes. The initiative was established under the leadership of iCS, in partnership with Banco do Brasil, BNDES, GFANZ, and Instituto Itaúsa.

ProFloresta+ works to scale forest restoration across approximately 50,000 hectares of the Amazon through the purchase of high-integrity carbon credits. Led by BNDES and Petrobras, the program received technical support from iCS, which mobilized partners and specialized expertise to develop an innovative and replicable restoration finance model. By demonstrating how carbon markets can support large-scale ecosystem recovery, ProFloresta+ has the potential to accelerate investment in nature-based climate solutions.

Powershoring is a green industrialization strategy that seeks to attract energy-intensive industrial activities to Northeast Brazil, a region with an abundant supply of renewable electricity. Alongside the Northeast Consortium and Banco do Brasil, iCS is a co-founder of the Powershoring Forum, which aims to secure R$ 77 billion in low-carbon industrial investments for the region by 2030. To this end, the Institute works on generating knowledge, coordinating partners, and structuring proposals to transform the competitive advantage of clean energy into sustainable, low-carbon economic development.

An iCS initiative created to strengthen the production and application of knowledge at the intersection of economic development and climate action, the Economy and Climate Hub operates by supporting applied research and fostering collaboration among academia, the private sector, and policymakers. Its focus is on generating evidence and solutions that contribute to a just, sustainable, and data-driven transition to a low-carbon economy.

The Bioeconomy Finance Hub aims to expand access to credit and financial services for socio-bioeconomy businesses in the Amazon, with a target of mobilizing R$5 billion in financing by 2030. iCS supports the development and strengthening of this initiative, which seeks to unlock investment in sustainable economic activities that generate income, promote standing forests, and foster inclusive regional development. The Hub was developed by Banco do Brasil in partnership with iCS, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change, creating a collaborative model to scale financing for a sustainable Amazon economy.
